A group of local residents had a meeting with the Vista Park Developer on Wednesday, January 6 at which they proposed some minor changes, including relocating the apartments and retail space away from Lee Vista Blvd. The scope of the project; however, remains the same at 4,300 units. The group did learn that Vista Park was only part of the planned development. There will also be 6,000 residential units and over 2.5 million sq. ft. of retail space built south of the Beachline. This amount of planned development will have a major impact on our communities.

The Developer will hold their next community meeting on Wednesday, January 13 at 6:00pm at the Holiday Inn on T. G. Lee Blvd. They indicated they will not allow a Q&A session, as they do not want a repeat of the last meeting. They were looking for the five-resident working group to buy in on their revised plan and help them sell it to the neighboring communities, but the resident who provided this information indicated he does not buy into it, and still opposes the project.

The resident group will hold a short meeting this Monday at 7 pm at the Vista Lakes Amenities Center and invites everybody to attend for discussion and feedback. Please distribute this message to other people residing in Vista East, and encourage your neighbors to attend the meeting on Wednesday and to voice their concerns to City officials. The group will also coordinate a delegation of residents to attend the Municipal Planning Board meeting on January 19, to voice our opinion. If the MPB approves the zoning change they intend to appeal the decision.

Commissioner Gray did attend both of the meetings with the Developer and offered to host a separate meeting with City Staff. The group plans to request a meeting in the near future.
